Govt. Polytechnic for Women, Srinagar provides quality Technical education Diploma programmes in specific areas of engineering, technology and modern office practice to match the human resource needs of industry, business and the community. Its main aim is to enhance the empowerment of women in the state through technical education.

- Enhancing institutional facilities and modernising laboratories and workshops regularly.
- Establishing New Opportunity Cell for identifying new opportunities and converting them into products.

- Developing entrepreneurial skills in the students, facilitating job placement and offering "value addition" trainings to enhance their placement opportunities.
- Certifying skills and competencies of manpower from unorganised sector.
- Establishing production centres in specific areas of technical excellence and conducting regular exhibitions /sale of products by students..
- Attaining academic, administrative, managerial and financial autonomy.
- Encouraging, implementing and sustaining environment development activities such as wasteland development, waste management etc.
- Involving students in all the activities of the institution and promote extra co-curricular activities for confidence building and personality development.
- Undertaking action research and tracer studies to asses and improve weak areas and to monitor status of pass out students.
